Blue Highway in the studio with Darrell Scott: Awesome lead vocals from Darrell, and an awesome song, co-written by Tim Stafford & Darrell.
From the liner notes by Kathy Mattea:
"The sheer amount of musical ground covered here boggles the mind. First of all, this is the same lineup that started this band a decade and a half ago (no small feat, folks). Each one is extraordinary, and they sing and play together like they family they are, after 15 years of recording and touring together. This album is a celebration of that musical, mystical synergy, and it passed my acid text for a 'stand-the-test-of-time' record...I was left emotionally both spent and exuberant at the end. It is simply a thrilling collection of performances... The lyrics cover classic themes, the vocals are deeply rooted in the lyrics, there are virtuoso performances, but with a wonderful lack of ego, and a spirit of celebration."

With Some Day: The Fifteenth Anniversary Collection, the musicians who first took to the stage on Dec. 31, 1994 as Blue Highway celebrate their 15th anniversary with songs from each of their four Rounder albums along with three smashing new tracks.
With the exception of Mark Knopfler’s “Marbletown” and two traditional songs, all of the songs on the album are written or co-written by band members. Ranging from bluegrass breakdown to stirring gospel, from contemporary ballad to traditional story song, the resulting collection exemplifies the powerful music and virtuosic musicianship that is modern bluegrass at its best.
The album opens with a new song - “Cold and Lowdown Lonesome Blues,” a hard-driving indictment of a love gone bad. “Through the Window of a Train”, the 2008 IBMA Song of the Year, follows.
Darrell Scott is the guest lead vocalist on “Bleeding for a Little Peace of Mind,” the powerful debut recording of a song co-written by Scott and Tim Stafford. Pairing unsettling imagery of mental depression with a robustly beautiful arrangement, it stands as a hallmark of contemporary original bluegrass.
The CD also features a new recording of Blue Highway's most requested song, "Some Day", with a powerful a capella arrangement and stirring lyrics. [Full track list at left]
Artfully balanced between tradition and innovation, poised to enter their sixteenth year as a band that is creatively at the top of its game, Blue Highway remains at the forefront of contemporary bluegrass music.
